Seasonal Saturday: Picture Book Edition for St. Pat's and Easter

As we race toward the middle of March, spring is that much closer.  Or is it?  This week we had our first real, measurable snow; the kids had a snow day on Wednesday! Talk about roaring in like a lion!

St. Patrick's Day is next week and Easter is just three weeks away.  With that said, today I feature two outstanding teacher-authors with resources to make planning simple and fun for these two holidays !  Both products are based on picture books that you might already have in your classroom library!

Jamie Williams is the teacher-author behind The Teachers' Aid store at Teachers Pay Teachers. She offers over (80) products for elementary literacy, math, science, and seasonal items. Today I feature her fun picture book unit for the wildly popular "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A..." series.

This fun resource for the picture book is perfect to use next week for St. Patrick's Day, as it has just enough engaging activities for your little ones!  Highlights of the unit include:

  • Adorable, appealing clip art
  • Comprehension questions for the story
  • Picture cards for a sequencing activity
  • Vocabulary word work
  • Rhyming activity
  • A writing response task that I love- real world and authentic!  Students write a retelling of the story for their friends.
At just $3, this book unit is a lucky find!  Click here to see the listing.

Jenn from 2nd Grade Snickerdoodles teaches RTI  in Georgia. Her store offers over (60) resources for science, social studies, math, and English Language Arts, including tons of book study units. She submitted a book study for Rechenka's Eggs by Patricia Polacco to be featured, just in time for Easter!  Who doesn't love Polacco?!

Highlights from this high-quality (60) page resource include:
  • Activities aligned to CCSS for grade 2
  • Vocabulary cards
  • Anchor charts
  • Graphic organizers
  • Retelling organizer
  • Word work with verbs
  • Reader's Theater
  • Comprehension Scoot cards
  • An assessment
  • And MUCH more!
You can preview this comprehensive packet here.  This resource is perfect for Easter, and I love the organizers and meaningful tasks she includes in her resource.

Be sure to buzz on over to Jamie and Jenn's stores to check out these items and lots more!

Thank you, ladies, for submitting your items to be featured on Seasonal Saturday!  I'm off to the library to check out these two books for my young sons.

**If you are interested in submitting a literacy/picture book seasonal item for me to feature, please complete the form here on Google Drive. I am now accepting submissions for Lent, Easter, spring, April Fool's Day, Earth Day, National Library Week, and Arbor Day .
